PRESS NOTICE 06/07 27TH OCTOBER 2006

Filming of the Inquiry panel at the Europa Hotel, Great Victoria Street, Belfast, Monday 30 October 2006

In response to a request from a member of the media, that an opportunity be provided to update Library pictures of the Inquiry Panel, the Inquiry Chairman, Lord MacLean, has given his permission for a maximum of 10 minutes of photography and filming in the hearing room at the Europa Hotel, Great Victoria Street, Belfast on Monday 30 October at 10.00am.

Those members of the media carrying a camera will be required to leave the hearing room after 10 minutes to allow for the commencement of the oral hearings.

Any member of the media wishing to attend the Inquiry to take photographs or to film the Inquiry Panel should arrive at the hearing room on the first floor of the Europa Hotel no later than 9.45am on Monday 30 October to ensure they have adequate time to undergo security checks.

In addition members of the media are asked to notify the Inquiry of the names of those attending to take photographs or to film, by 3.00pm on Friday 27 October.

NOTES FOR EDITORS

1. The oral hearings in weeks commencing 30 October and 4 December 2006 are in respect of document recovery from the Northern Ireland Prison Service.

2. Limited seating will be provided for the media within the hearing room. If there are no seats in the media area then seating in the public area should be used. Members of the media are invited to arrive prior to the commencement of oral hearings to avoid any delay for them entering the hearing room.

3. No sketching will be allowed of any witness who has been granted anonymity by the Inquiry Panel.

4. No mobile telephones, cameras and\or recording devices will be permitted in the hearing room after the 10 minutes of filming the Inquiry Chairman has approved. Such items should be handed to Inquiry personnel on arrival and can be retrieved and returned as often as is necessary during the week of oral hearings.
